    May 2025   Greeting Lake Friends!

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to open up our camp for the season. I love everything about it, but especially the smell of the camp when I first open up the door and take a step inside. It brings back fond memories of family, friends, and happy days. I love putting in the dock- well, maybe not the part of getting into the cold water to get it set, but I so enjoy when the work is done, getting a few chairs out, and sitting out above the water. Eventually the grandchildren will have helped enough and will be ready to get out the nets and see what they can find under the surface of the water. I feel quite fortunate in these moments and look forward to warm weather and good times ahead. I hope you do as well.

Greetings from your Board of Trustees!

Summer is coming, which means our annual membership drive is going on now!

The LHPOA works on your behalf to keep our lake clean, healthy, and fun for swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing. As you are aware, our primary challenge is to manage invasive species like Eurasian Milfoil.

Our volunteer Board of Trustees works hard all year to secure grants, gifts, and members to contribute to the costs of funding our vital milfoil management programs in an effort to sustain our beautiful lake.

Each year we collect annual membership dues of $150. Your membership dues and other donations help keep our lake accessible to you and your family while maintaining healthy water quality and fish habitat.

We hope you will continue your support of the LHPOA through your annual membership dues and consider making an additional donation with your membership.

Join our K Club with a $1,000 membership contribution and get a Lake Hortonia t-shirt!

You can pay your dues and update your directory information on our website at https://lakehortonia.org/membership or print and fill out the membership form and mail in your contribution.

    Thank you for your support!

The Lake Hortonia Property Owners Association is supporting SudHub by promoting their upcoming virtual community visioning meeting and other community organizing efforts.

Lake Hortonia Community Trust and Sudbury Community Club have teamed up to form an informal initiative called SudHub. We believe the best way to shape the future of our region is through the ideas and input of all residents. We are working together to enhance our local community with the help of available state grants, fundraising efforts, and public/private partnerships. Here are three upcoming community engagement events to give you an opportunity to plug in.

    1) Lake Hortonia Community Update & Engagement Meeting - Virtual Meeting- Wed. April 23, 6:00-7:30p EST

    Attend this meeting to:

    1. Learn about the Lake Hortonia Community Trust and SudHub initiatives, including an update on the Lake Hortonia Country Store.

    2. Share your community development ideas for Lake Hortonia and the Sudbury - Hubbardton region.

    2) Community Vision Survey online by April 30th. We’d love to hear from you! Please take a few moments to share your thoughts and ideas. We encourage each member of your household, including children, to fill out a separate survey.
