Sudbury, VT The Town of Sudbury and Lake Hortonia Property Owners Association recently received an aquatic nuisance control grant-in-aid of up to $15,000 from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, part of the Agency of Natural Resources.
The grant supports the efforts to control and prevent the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil in Lake Hortonia and to other lakes and ponds.
Lake Hortonia also received a grant of up to $15,000 for spread prevention of Eurasian watermilfoil from the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission.
The control methods used are approved by the State of Vermont and have minimal to no impact on native vegetation and wildlife. The project runs from June 2022 through Sept. 2022.
“This project has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC 00A00707-0) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP).
Restrictions on the use of lake water for irrigation have been lifted based on the latest water testing. There are no longer any restrictions on the use of lake water following the ProcellaCOR treatment on June 27th.
