Sudbury, VT
The Town of Sudbury and Lake Hortonia Property Owners Association recently received an aquatic nuisance control grant-in-aid of up to $15,000 from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, part of the Agency of Natural Resources.


The grant supports the efforts to control and prevent the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil in Lake Hortonia and to other lakes and ponds.


Lake Hortonia also received a grant of up to $15,000 for spread prevention of Eurasian watermilfoil from the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission.


The control methods used are approved by the State of Vermont and have minimal to no impact on native vegetation and wildlife. The project runs from June 2022 through Sept. 2022.

“This project has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC 00A00707-0) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP).

Annual Fall Meeting

Outdoors weather permitting – please bring your lawn chair

Please join us for our annual fall meeting. This year’s agenda includes:

  1. Secretary and Treasurer reports
  2. Updates on the Milfoil management program
  3. Voting for officers and board members
  4. Communication committee updates

With COVID considerations, we will not host a lunch this year. In case of rain we will meet in the large dining hall, please bring a mask. Carpool if you can, or come in your boat.

The following positions are up for election:

  • President, Vice President, Secretary and three (3) board positions

The President term is for one (1) year, all other positions are two (2) year terms.

We are also looking for someone with basic web design/maintenance skills and someone with social media skills to work on the communication committee.

Route 30 Road Closure in June

Vermont Route 30 will be closed to through traffic between Saint Johns Road and Route 144 for the month of June 2021 while culverts are being replaced. A designated state highway detour will be utilized along VT 4A, VT 22a and VT 73 for truck traffic. A Public Information Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Sudbury Town Offices.
